Colombo, February 19, 2019: SriLankan Airlines flight UL121 from Colombo to Chennai underwent a minor incident of a tyre deflation following landing of the aircraft in Chennai on17th February.
The aircraft had already landed safely and turned on to the taxiway to move to the terminal. While on the taxiway the aircraft experienced a deflation of one front tyre. The aircraft continued on to the terminal. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the deflation was due to a damage caused by a foreign object.
The aircraft returned to Colombo following the replacing of the tyre. SriLankan Airlines is carrying out an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the damage on the tyre which led to its deflation.
SriLankan Airlines wishes to stress that at no time was there any issue to the safety of the passengers or the aircraft. Passenger safety is of paramount importance to SriLankan.
