SriLankan extends its wings to empower the Nation’s tomorrow



Colombo, October 26, 2018: Upholding its responsibility to nurture the Nation’s youth, SriLankan Airlines, the National Carrier of Sri Lanka became a part of the ‘SPRINT’ Programme which is an island wide project launched with a vision to create a future-ready next generation who has the mettle to take on the Nation’s future. With the vision of moulding the next generation of youth, the project offers career guidance to the aspirant young students who have completed their Advance Level Education.

The project which is driven by the collaborative efforts of Prime Minister’s Office and Association of HR Professionals, seeks to empower the Nation’s youth and grant them the foresight which they require to hone and sharpen their skills which they need to make their mark in their desired field. The programme is conducted in partnership with leading business organizations in the island including Brandix Lanka Limited, Fonterra, Fortude, SriLankan Airlines etc.

SriLankan Airlines became a part of this worthy initiative when it offered a comprehensive and specially customized career guidance programme for 25 young students from Mahanama College, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Hindu College and Lumbini College on 4th October 2018. The Career Guidance programme which was held at SriLankan Aviation College gave the students a comprehensive overview of the potential career opportunities and prospects which they could explore in the Aviation industry. The students were thereafter taken to the Engineering Hangar where they were given a familiarization tour which offered firsthand experience on how engineering operations are executed within an airline.

The Airline believes in promoting homegrown talent and strongly holds the view that a comprehensive career guidance programme of this scale would contribute immensely to expand the scope of youth and develop skilled professionals across a wide spectrum of professions and we proud to be associated with this program” said Pradeepa Kekulawala, Head of Human Resources – SriLankan Airlines and President of Association of Human Resources Professional.
