SriLankan Aviation College Recommences EASA PART 66 Basic Course in Aircraft Maintenance

8 December 2022; Colombo – SriLankan Airlines’ training academy, SriLankan Aviation College, reintroduces the EASA PART 66 Basic Course in Aircraft Maintenance to its portfolio of courses on offer to Sri Lankan students after a four-year hiatus. The highly sought-after programme is essentially a launchpad for students aspiring for a career in the lucrative aircraft maintenance field.

The EASA PART 66 Basic course in Aircraft Maintenance is accredited by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and the Civil Aviation Authorities of Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Pakistan.  The course affords students the opportunity to study in both Mechanical (B1.1) and Avionics (B2) streams. The Mechanical stream is predominantly associated with the mechanical aspects of an aircraft such as its structure and related systems. Avionics is associated with the electrical and radio equipment and systems of the aircraft.

Airbus’ Global Market Forecast sees an additional demand for close to one million more aircraft maintenance technicians and engineers by 2040, consistent with the growth of the aviation industry. SriLankan Aviation College hopes that renewing the EASA PART 66 Basic course in Aircraft Maintenance will help prepare Sri Lankan students to ride this projected global career wave as well as produce highly skilled local talent to meet the demands of the global aviation industry.

SriLankan Aviation College is among the handful of EASA approved training institutes in the region, and draws an international student body to its Katunayake-based college facility. It is also a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAES) and the European Aviation Maintenance Training Committee (EAMTC). With over 34 years of experience in aviation training according to international standards, the college extends comprehensive aviation and corporate training options to both students and working professionals.
