  • Pack Appropriately: Pack light cotton clothes in general and light woollen clothes for the hills, don’t forget sunscreen, mosquito repellent, a hat, or your sunglasses.
  • Currency: ATMs are widely available in major cities and towns. The local currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR), when exchanging, trust only authorized dealers like banks.
  • Transportation: Public transport like buses and trains are inexpensive, and Tuk-tuks are also a popular option, alternatively, you can consider hiring a driver or renting a car.
  • Health and safety: Be vary of unsanitary preparation of food, especially on the streets and it’s always recommended to opt for bottled spring water
  • Cultural sensitivity: Sri Lanka is a strong conservative country with strong cultural influences, so make sure to cover your shoulders and knees when visiting religious sites.
  • Stay hydrated: Carry around a water bottle as it can get hot and humid. Or opt for a refreshing king coconut every once in a while.
