FlySmiLes now offers you the opportunity of making an advanced seat reservation or pre-booking an extra legroom seat by redeeming your miles.

Advanced seat reservation terms and conditions

  • This facility is available on selected SriLankan operated flights for passengers holding SriLankan issued tickets and is not available on our partner/code share flights.
  • Advance Seat Reservation is complimentary for un-occupied seats, when online check-in opens, from 48 hours prior to scheduled time of departure.
  • In case of involuntary changes due to flight disruption, aircraft change or any other operational, safety or security reasons, where we are unable to provide you with your preferred seat, we will provide you with an alternate seat and refund the miles redeemed for the specific seat.
  • Advance Seat Reservation miles redemptions are non-refundable for voluntary changes.
  • In case of voluntary changes to your original schedule before departure, the Advance Seat Reservation will be transferable for the new flight, subject to availability. Route changes are not permitted.
  • Advance Seat Reservation miles redemption will not be refunded in the event you travel in Business class due to an involuntary upgrade
  • Refund related requests should be submitted through email to flysmiles@srilankan.com
  • Charges are per seat, per flight sector basis
  • Charges quoted are subject to change at the discretion of the airline


Seat Reservation is Complimentary

  • Once online check-in opens 48 hours prior to departure
  • If you are travelling on Business class.
  • For FlySmiLes Platinum and oneworld Emerald members
  • For passengers who are holding an Economy Flex fare on H, P, B or Y classes.
  • For passenger traveling with infant.
  • For passengers eligible for wheelchair facility up to the cabin.


Extra Legroom Seats

Travel in comfort with ample space to stretch out by pre-booking an extra legroom seat in Economy Class through redemption of miles.

Seats with extra leg space are available for pre-booking up to 3 hours prior departure subject to availability, eligibility criteria and terms and conditions

Limited Extra legroom seats are available for pre –booking and would be offered on a first come-first served basis, subject to meeting the exit row safety requirement. You can also purchase a seat with extra legroom at the airport subject to availability

Extra legroom safety requirements and terms and conditions

  • Passengers who require special assistance (during an emergency) may not opt for this facility. E.g., wheelchair, elderly, medically unfit passengers and unaccompanied minors, children etc.
  • The airline shall use its discretion to accept or deny the passenger for these specific seats at the airport as per the Airline’s safety policy. In the instance of denial of acceptance, the miles redeemed for extra legroom seat would be refunded.
  • The redemption value for extra legroom seat is per flight sector and once redeemed is non-refundable. Date changes are subject to seat availability.
  • In the event the Airline is unable to provide a seat with extra legroom as booked due to operational reasons such as an aircraft type change, the airline shall refund the miles redeemed for the advance seat reservation.
  • Only limited seat numbers are available for pre-reservation.
  • Seats with Extra Legroom can be booked any time before 3 hours of the scheduled departure.
  • Extra legroom seat reservations are specific for the flight and miles redeemed shall not be refunded for any voluntary route changes.
  • Miles redeemed for Extra legroom seats will not be refunded in the event you travel in Business class due to a voluntary or involuntary upgrade.
  • Not valid on codeshare flights marketed by SriLankan. Only valid on UL operated flights and for SriLankan Airlines issued tickets.
