Tree planting Campaign & Domestic biogas plant Awareness Programme for staff

The staff of SriLankan Airlines joined in to help create a greener Sri Lanka by participating in the Dayata Sevana&, a national tree planting campaign initiated by the Government of Sri Lanka. While this national initiative aims to expand the amount of tree cover in Sri Lanka from 27% to 32%, SriLankan plans to expand its tree cover in its Katunayake premises.

Following the planting of sapling, Airline staff participated in an awareness programme on domestic biogas production, which was organized by the Environment unit and conducted by HELPO ecoGreen Ltd. This was focused on providing an opportunity for the employees to learn about methods of domestic production and use of biogas, and its advantages. Further this awareness session marks the first step towards the many initiatives that the Airlines’ Environment unit plans to partake in their ‘Greening of SriLankan’ concept.
