Being one of the most conservation minded airline in the region, SriLankan Airlines invested on a wastewater treatment plant for its Largest Aircraft hangar. This new investment made not only to comply with the legal compliance but also to achieve an environment objective. By commissioning such a project the airline managed to discharge clean water to nature and reduce its own environmental impact.

This system has been principally designed to clean the wastewater drawn from the Engineering 747 aircraft hangar and related workshop, and the process has been influenced by the degree and consistency of treatment required, quality of the water to be treated, space availability, anticipated operation and maintenance. Also the wastewater treatment plant meets the all the parameters and standards stipulated by the Central Environment Authority for the discharge of industrial effluent to the environment.
