Community Awareness Programme – for school Children

SriLankan Airlines organized two special awareness programmes as part of its 2013 World environment day event sequence, for the students from Both Minuwangoda Nalanda Boys and Girls schools to increase their knowledge on new sustainable technologies. SriLankan Airlines believe that enhancing knowledge and strengthening the younger generation is utmost important part of their strategy to spread the conservation efforts. Hence these awareness campaigns always have been a part of the airlines environment day event which also appreciated by the invited Schools.
1. Energy efficiency awareness programme for school children
Mr. Sampath De Silva, Facilities Technical Foremen of Logistics & Properties department was conducted an awareness programme on “How to make your own energy efficient LED bulb”. He explained all the details regarding manufacturing process and places to purchase all the parts for cheap price with good quality, where finally they can build one bulb for the price of 150 LKR when market price is more than 500 LKR. At the end of the programme students were gifted with a required components pack for them to make it by themselves.
2. Food preservation
Mr. Deepal Samarakoon, Hygiene and quality assurance executive, SriLankan catering conduct the second knowledge sharing session for the school children at the catering premises. He explained and the Food Autoclave Sterilization process and its benefits for the students.
