First field visit of SriLankan School Green Club

SriLankan School Green Club had their first field visit to Nithya Paper and Boards Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Horana on 20th December 2016 as part of their environmental educational process. The objective of this visit is to exposes the students of Andiambalama Maha Vidyalaya to gain much needed hands-on experience in paper recycling related processes in order for them to develop their own paper recycling programme at school.

Strengthen with the basic understanding on paper recycling from the educational meeting held few weeks back, this was the opportunity given to the students to understand the technologies involved, witness an actual paper production process, understanding the chemicals used in the process, safety processes involved and Savings that the processes brings in terms of Energy & environment conservation.

Students learned the technologies behind paper making as well as the experience in visiting one of the fourth largest paper manufactures in Sri Lanka. At the conclusion, ‘This was one of the biggest educational experience that they received during their time in school’ said a student giving the thanking note.

SriLankan Airlines Green Unit and SriLankan Cares team plans to organise more educational programmes for the Green Clubs, hoping to make a deference in children’s minds and making them more responsible individuals once they leave the respective schools.
